02 Mar 8 Steps to Successful Social Media Engagement
We’ve all heard that it is important to “engage” on social media, but what does that really mean, and why should YOU as a business be doing it?
Being engaged with your audience on social media is like being part of a very large community. It helps build brand awareness, gives you an opportunity to meet other industry professionals, and gives you a unique opportunity to have conversations with your consumers.
Consumer engagement has fundamentally changed the way brands can interact with their audience, and social media has become the face of this change.
Social Media Engagement
Here are 8 tips from The Gurus on how to have successful social media engagement:
- Follow local businesses.
- Follow industry professionals.
- Follow hashtags relevant to your industry.
- Like, share, and comment on other business’s content.
- Like, share, comment on your consumers posts.
- Respond to comments left on your content.
- Respond to direct messages if it is a consumer trying to reach you.
- Respond to story replies, and comment on stories from your audience that resonate with you.
We recommend spending at least 5-10 minutes a day engaging with your audience, each and every day.
We also suggest that you keep it real with your social media. Find your voice and let people get to know who’s behind your brand.

What does social media engagement mean?
Social engagement, or social participation, is how you interact and participate with your community and audience. Social media engagement is a long-term relationship, not just a one-time interaction with someone. When you're engaged, you're opening a line of communication that spans over a period of time on networks like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. By being engaged, you are building a great customer experience.
What does it mean to be a social media guru?
A social media guru is someone who has extensive knowledge about Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and more. Social media gurus are experienced marketers with an understanding of human psychology and digital marketing principles.
